| My wife loves tea. For years she used the regular store bought tea's until someone turned her on to brewing loose quality teas. The tea infuser broke, it was near Christmas so... I found this item online. It was just what I was searching for, a simple yet elegant glass tea infuser! It has a handle and can then be used as your teacup! Besides, you get two for the price of one! |
Beautiful product and a great value

I bought three of these beautiful glass tea infuser mugs as gifts--two for my boyfriend (one for work and one for home) and one for my mom. The shipping was extremely fast, and everything arrived very securely packaged.
We've only used them a few times, but so far I've been extremely impressed. The mugs are so pretty and elegant. :-) Everything seems really sturdy, and they really are microwave safe so you can conveniently heat your water up in the microwave. The slits in the inner infuser are very small so they work well for loose leaf teas. When we first opened them we were so excited to try them out that we tore open a tea bag just to see if it would work with loose tea. Even though the teabag tea is very particle-y and dusty, it still worked well with minimal drifties. So far they also seem easy to clean, and definitely more so than tea-infuser balls.
You get a great value for the price, since glass tea infuser mugs can go for twice as much. They work so well as pretty and functional gifts that I'm actually buying a fourth one to give to my boyfriend's mom. :-P |

These mugs are really beautiful, they look really delicate but are actually quite sturdy. Mine has been through the dishwasher repeatedly and looks like new. You get two complete sets; each in it's own box so it's really handy if you are wanting one for yourself and one for a gift.
Delivery time was awesome fast with this company!
Edit: This no longer says you get two complete sets! |
It's worth taking the extra care

I don't know if I have ever written a review on Amazon before but I am going to now. I usually don't because I don't believe I have much to add to most general reviews but not so now! ;-)
I read all the reviews before I purchased the Sun's Teas 12oz Personal All Glass Tea Infuser & Mug and honestly, I was a little apprehensive to buy it ...because of the "fragile" comments.
Here's why I love this item:
First, this set is FUNCTIONAL. It's an "all-in-one" product and everything fits together nicely. Now I don't have to mess with all the tea balls, strainers... you name it, I have a collection of these stupid contraptions I will seriously NEVER use again. PLUS, one extra thing that you can't tell from the pictures and that I personally LOVE is that the cup itself has it a lipped rim. I will buy cups just because they have lipped rims and so you can imagine how happy I was when I took my first sip from this cup!! I was SOOOO glad I bought 2 of them at the same time ( I got free shipping by buying 2 of them on Sun's website!!)....
Secondly, I consider this item to be beautiful and delicate, maybe even somewhat feminine. Almost like fine china (think about drinking tea from a fine china teacup). I like that it is "fragile" because I feel like I am pampering myself just by drinking tea from this tea set... for real! If it was durable, like Pyrex, I seriously doubt I would get that "pampered" feeling.
I'm not going to lie though... if you don't want to spend the extra time needed to care for this set and just want to wash it like you do your pyrex bakeware FORGET ABOUT BUYING IT. I'm not even going to chance putting it in my dishwasher.. EVER. Realizing this fact, I went ahead and purchased a few items to help me care for this set. (Again.. no big deal FOR ME again since I'm moving over to all glass in my kitchen since I needed to buy all of these new items anyway!)
The additional items I purchased in order to care for the tea mug set(s) were:
1. Rubbermaid Sink Divider/ Protector Mat - http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-White-Twin-Sink-Divider/dp/B000JO7YSI/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1271340729&sr=8-7
**So I don't break the set in my sink (I needed it for my stemware & new vintage pyrex glass coffee percolator ANYWAY ;-))
2. OXO Good Grips Dish Wand - http://www.amazon.com/Good-Grips-1225600-Squirting-Glass/dp/B00179DMDA/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1271341076&sr=1-10
**This thing is made for cleaning delicate glass items AND let me tell you, the top of this tea set has an indented edge around the rim that protrudes out a little bit. I don't think even a toothbrush could get inside to clean inside of it, that is if it didn't break or crack the glass trying to get inside of it first! I'm glad I bought this dish wand anyways because I needed something like this to clean my humongous, deep & delicate stemware, coffee mugs and muffin pans.
3. Garden Botanika Dish Drying Mats - http://www.amazon.com/Garden-Botanika-Original-5-5-Ounce-Packages/dp/B002OEBYZU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1271341293&sr=1-1
**I haven't purchased this YET, but I'm probably going to (so I don't break the set setting it out to dry)
Well, I hope this review helps you to decide if you really want to purchase this set so you won't be disappointed ! This set is PERFECT for me, but hey... that's me. Everyone IS different though !! :-) |

| Definitely would recommend. It's beautiful and makes tea for one time no nice. Some of the loose bits of leaves do escape through but the leaves are so good for you and I hardly notice. Great buy! |
Pleasantly Surprised

| When I opened the package I thought this was cheap. I was afraid to use it. I thought I could only put it in the micro. One night I decided to put boiling water in it and I've been using it every night and putting it in the dishwasher on the top rack. Works very well. |

| I love this mug. Loose tea is a bit of a problem, in that you will always have a little bit of it drifting around in your mug, but this one is so pretty it doesn't matter. It works at least as well as a diffuser, without the added aluminum in my cup. And it looks great. It's easy to hand wash, too. Worth the little bit of extra effort. |
Tea on the Go

This is a very unique and elegant setup with cup, infuser, and lid all together. My expectations have been met. The lid fits tight enough to keep the tea from spilling out in the car while turning, stopping, or accelerating. Handle stays relatively cool to the touch when hot tea is in the cup. The infuser can be a little difficult to retrieve once the tea is brewed due to its nice fit into the cup.
The clear glass is a nice touch. We have not tested its durability in the microwave, only with the standard brewing with hot-water from a kettle. |
Nice glass Infuser

| This is a rather nice glass infuser that can be used in the microwave. The only downfall is that finely shredded tea or dust makes it through the slits in the glass. |
Not Good for Fine Tea Leaves

| This is a pretty and convenient tea mug but when I tried using it with some Japanese tea the tea leaves clogged the slots cut in the infuser. I ended up buying another tea pot with a traditional wire mesh which works very well. |
