Product Description |
| This glass teapot with a capacity of 40 ounces turns the act of brewing tea into an artistic presentation. Loose tea leaves are placed into the glass infuser, hot water is added, and when the water reaches the desired color or strength, the infuser is lifted out along with all the loose leaves. A glass lid keeps the heat in, and the graceful loop handle makes the pot easy to pour. Tea flowers look beautiful in the pot, too, and work best without the infuser. Made of lightweight yet laboratory-strength borosilicate glass, the teapot won't stain and is safe for use in the microwave and dishwasher. For the tea drinker, Primula also sells a glass tea-making mug and packets of tea flowers, which are AA-grade green tea leaves and actual dried flowers that are hand-sewn into tight balls by artisans in China. After a tea flower ball is place in hot water, it will slowly sink to the bottom and unfurl into full "bloom." Some even have two different kinds of flowers that unfurl into a colorful spectacle, adding fragrance and flavor to the tea. |

Bloomin' Flower Teapots! What next??
|
| Review Date: March 7, 2009 |
| Reviewer: K. Hitchcock, South Carolina |
I liked this teapot first for the fact it is clear borosilicate glass - like the beakers in high school chemistry class. It's good for heated and heating liquids.
I liked it because the clear glass allows me to watch these blooming tea flowers. Some of them are quite beautiful.
I did NOT buy the teapot for the tea you get when you pour hot water over the flower tea-balls. They are pretty, but by the time they've fully unfurled, the tea part of the concoction is very over-steeped. I much prefer to buy loose leaf tea (peach and jasmine especially - when they're steeped for just a minute or two... the taste is much more subtle).
I love my teapot. It sits next to me on cold days. It doesn't care if it's full of fine white jasmine tea, a nice herbal blend, or Constant Comment decaf. All it knows it that it takes care of my tea until I claim it for my favorite cup, and go back to reading my book. It's a great little pot. |

SERIOUS TEA POT
|
| Review Date: January 27, 2010 |
| Reviewer: Bill38112, Memphis, TN United States |
| I wanted a serious tea pot for serious tea drinking and this one fills the bill nicely. I've used this teapot two or three times a day for over six weeks and I love it. Although it looks fragile, it is very sturdy. I've used it with a variety of loose teas at temperatures ranging from 180 to 212 F. While the glass infuser works admirably I prefer to brew the tea loose in the pot and then strain into cups or mugs. Being able to watch the leaves unfurl and monitor the color of the tea as it brews is practical and satisfying. I plan to buy a second pot for the inevitable day this klutz breaks his favorite tea pot. |
This one's a Winner!
|
| Review Date: October 22, 2009 |
| Reviewer: V. Howe, |
| Love, love, love this glass teapot! Loose tea or a broken teabag - no more worries about lumpy tea with the separate infuser! Easy to clean and is my best friend on cold mornings. The clear glass goes with any tea cups and holds the heat for a good long while. I get two or three LARGE cups - which is just the right amount to get me moving! I highly recommend this Primula teapot! |
Great teapot
|
| Review Date: December 25, 2009 |
| Reviewer: JeanA, Upstate, NY |
| I love this teapot and use it almost daily. I bought it b/c I like loose leaf teas and it has the infuser--very convenient. Then I discovered tea flowers and I am so happy with how these beautiful creations can be viewed from my teapot. I think it was a great value and I am very pleased with this tea pot. |
A bit of false advertising
|
| Review Date: June 6, 2009 |
| Reviewer: M. E. Randolph, Hawaii |
Primula PTA-3940 Tea Pot with Infuser
The advertising says 40 oz. That is not exactly true. If you take out the infuser and just fill it to the very top with water, no lid, yeah it is 40 oz. But for practical purposes, with tea, infuser (or flower tea)and lid it's 32oz or less. Also the slits in the infuser are so narrow they can be blocked by larger tea leaves. Just not as functional as it seems. |
too thin and extremely fragile
|
| Review Date: December 7, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Petur O. Jonsson, Fayetteville, NC USA |
The great thing about a glass teapot is that you can see exactly how the tea is brewing. This means you can use the color to tell you how strong the tea is at a glance. Accordingly, we always have a few glass pots in our house.
Unfortunately, this particular glass tea pot is extremely fragile ... a lot more fragile than other glass pots we have used. The pot looks great, its true, but if you just barely clank the lid against the pot as you take the lid on or off, a piece of glass will simply break off. This has now happened to two of these pots, each after just over a week of use, and we will not be buying any more of them. The problem is that the glass is just too thin. This is great for looks, but it is simply not practical for regular use.
My suggestion, if you like glass teapots, stick with Bodum pots since these pots are a heck of a lot sturdier and will typically last a few years rather than just a week. |
Don't drink the tea
|
| Review Date: February 15, 2009 |
| Reviewer: D. Fender, |
| I purchased this product after having tried the white tea (with peach), which was very nice with a subtle aroma of peach. However, the green tea with jasmine (which comes with this tea pot) has a very heavy scent and really smells like some cheap perfume. Not at all like I expected, or like anything I would want to drink. Watching the flower open is still nice and the tea would probably work if you want to put it in a spray bottle and spritz some on behind the ears before going out. Just don't expect to actually drink the stuff. |

Product Description |
| Gorgeous in its simplicity of form, this glass teapot brews tea the traditional way. Fill the fine-mesh stainless-steel infuser with loose tea (1 teaspoon per cup plus 1 teaspoon for the pot), plunge it into water that's just reached the boiling point (don't boil out the water's oxygen, which is crucial for full flavor), and cover the infuser with the chrome-plated stainless-steel lid. Steep to taste (two to five minutes). Remove the infuser, replace the lid, pour up to 8 cups (the pot's capacity), and relax. Afterward, the pot, infuser, and lid can go into the dishwasher. The teapot stands 5-1/4 inches high. --Fred Brack |

for hardened and shameless tea drinkers
|
| Review Date: November 16, 2008 |
| Reviewer: K. Collins, Jonesborough, TN United States |
| My husband has proven adept at breaking tea pots, so the stainless steel construction of this pot (and its 5 year guarantee) was appealing. But it gets better: the pot is insulated and keeps tea steaming hot without the need for a cozy. It is easy to clean, can be run through the dishwasher, and it really doesn't show any fingerprints. If it were half again as big, I would have no complaint. Otherwise, it is an excellent product. |
Hot drinks all day!
|
| Review Date: December 4, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Catherine Chambers, |
| I work from my car. I used to have to carry a few travel mugs with warm drinks, and invariably, the last would be cold, always disappointing at the end of the day. This "teapot" keeps hot liquids hot. Mostly, I just fill up with boiling water in the morning and use the water to prepare hot drinks throughout the day - tea, instant cocoa, ramen... The water is hot enough all day. I have occasionally forgotten to empty the pot when I come home - and the water is usually still warm in the morning. The handle is easy to use, and it's easy to pour with one hand without spilling. I agree that the infuser basket isn't quite right if you're putting the tea in the basket - when I make a whole pot of tea, I use the basket as a strainer, to keep the tea in the pot and not in the cup, since I'm drinking tea that doesn't become bitter with over-steeping. |
Good insulation, sturdy too.

| Just the right size for tea for two. Very well insulated. Includes a plastic infuser insert you can use or remove as you please. |
Highly recommended - but one design flaw
|
| Review Date: January 25, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Doctor.Generosity, Western Massachusetts |
This is a Stanley commercial product intended for fancy restaurants or hotel room service to deliver a carafe made with fresh loose tea. Holds about 28 usable oz, enough for one person to have 3-4 cups. The unit is very well constructed and keeps liquids hot a long time. The handle is perfectly balanced and the thumb valve is very nice. So far, the design is brilliant.
But making tea in it directly, as intended, does not work well, at least with the included components. The supplied tea infuser which fits inside has no perforations on its bottom half, so hot water does not penetrate where the tea leaves sit! Also, everyone who makes tea knows that leaves cannot be allowed to sit in the water indefinitely. But there is no means to pluck the infuser out of very hot water; must use a fork or the like. I suspect the designer never actually made tea in it, or this would have been noticed.
But I do use it to brew tea every day. Instead of the supplied infuser, I found a very long skinny plastic tea basket which fits inside but can also be easily plucked out. This works fine.
I am subtracting one star for this - but still highly recommended. |
Nice pot!
|
| Review Date: December 15, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Balquydziv, Ann Arbor, MI United States |
| This teapot is very nicely insulated. I was impressed that I could brew my tea in the evening and still enjoys a hot cup in the morning upon waking up. The only negative is that the opening in at the top has a short diameter, only about 1-1/4 inches so you're obligated to use the built it infuser which is a bit small. I've started brewing my tea in a separate pot which a more efficient nylon infuser and then transfering to this pot after steeping. Overall a great buy! |

Just What I Was Looking For!
|
| Review Date: December 15, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Karen, O'Fallon, IL USA |
| I work in a store that sells these teapots for more than twice the price. I have wanted one for a while, but didn't want to pay almost $40 for it. I was excited to find this one, it is just what I wanted! It arrived quickly and was well packaged. I use it every day. Like all teapots of this style, depending on the tea you are using, it is sometimes easier to fill the pot and then drop in the diffuser with the tea already in it. (I find this to be true with Rooibos teas in particular. They are too fine and clog the slits in the diffuser.) I have been very happy with my purchase! |

| Review Date: November 28, 2007 |
| Reviewer: Andrea Kay O'Loughlin, Kenosha, WI United States |
| I was very disappointed in this teapot. It is extremely tiny, its glass is paper-thin and likely to break easily, and the infuser does not work well. It might be great for decorative purposes--but not for daily use. Considering the approximately $30 I spent on its purchase, I could have found a larger, sturdier version instead. |

Great Tea Pot
|
| Review Date: February 12, 2010 |
| Reviewer: R. COGBILL, VIDOR, TX USA |
This teapot did everything I needed it to do. I didn't want a tea kettle to heat the water then and then I would have to pour it in a teapot w/infuser to steep (felt redundant). I wanted the a teapot/kettle to do it all and this fit the bill. While the box does not say anything about being stovetop safe, it is indeed ok to heat on the stove (medium flame).
The infuser works great, and was perfect for serving a pot of tea. However, the only downfall is if you are clumsy with a glass teapot. |
